Las Cruces is a great place to film. With beautiful locations, friendly locals, and dedicated crew members. However, obtaining set dressing and hand props has always been a challenge. As local filmmakers ourselves, we know just how frustrating this can be. A trip to the nearest prop house from Las Cruces could cost a team an entire day and shopping usually means driving over an hour to El Paso for the “good stuff”. That is what inspired us to create The Gold Room. To give set dec and prop crews better and quicker access to the pieces they need.
Why “The Gold Room”?
Gold room is a term used by the Set Decoration department to describe the location in which all of their pieces are stored during production. Set Dec teams depend on prop houses for much of what they aquire for every project they work on. So for us, The Gold Room just made sense.
Our Inventory
Our inventory is largely an accumulation of pieces that we have picked up from different projects over the years. Many of the pieces in our collection have been usesd on multiple sets meaning they have that special look that productions are hoping to capture. The Gold Room is still growing so if you think there are pieces that we are missing, let us know. We would love to hear your feedback. We also accept donations in the form of furniture and decorative items. So if you are looking to get rid of some old items around your house, consider donating them to us and help out your fellow filmmakers.

The mission of The Gold Room prop house is to provide the film and theatre communities of Las Cruces and El Paso with better access to set dressing and hand props.
